This is a clip from the film “Dreams with Sharp Teeth”, a documentary film about Harian Ellison. In this clip he rants about how Warner Brothers wanted him to submit some work for free, since everyone else was doing it for free. Kind of similar to how most companies here expect designers and other creatives to work for low rates. I think what he’s saying is to value your work and not to just simply give it away.
I got the link for the video from APhotoEditors’ blog post “Sir, Were Not the Taco Stand”. It has a cool clip about how clients want more for less. It’s worth taking a look; even if you don’t really care about these things it’s quite entertaining.
